Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her real name Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. On the 21st of October, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP for the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music online in the year 2012 when she launched her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. In July of 2015, Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat it Out. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's reference. Later in the year, her music circulated around Dreamville. On December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut EP, on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared on two songs alongside her label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. On November 9 she released two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 two new singles titled The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole in her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. The track was made available with a video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over 3 million times in the first 7 days. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
